For Brentwood Residents, Fitness Is A Journey Worth Taking
For some Brentwood residents who have let themselves grow out of shape, the idea of getting back in the gym is daunting. Fitness is something that all of us desire, but if we have a job where we’re mostly sedentary, and there are other things to keep us busy at home, it might seem like there’s no time to get to the gym.
To get back in shape, though, you must make Brentwood fitness a priority. Joining a gym and establishing a routine is critical, and if you don’t think you can do it on your own, you may wish to contact a personal trainer as well.
Of course, there may be some people who are thinking of joining a gym that have never belonged to one before. If that’s true, then you might have no idea where to start. You walk into the gym, and you see people engaged in all kinds of activities. But which ones are best for you?
Here are three ways to get started at the gym that are appropriate for virtually all fitness levels. You can begin here and work your way up to other activities when you feel up to it.
Stretching
Stretching both before and after you work out is a necessary part of the process. If you don’t stretch out your muscles, then you stand a better chance of straining or pulling something. Those are painful injuries that can take a long time to come back from, so make sure you are loose before you begin your workout. You can find some videos about stretching on YouTube, or you can talk to a health club employee or personal trainer about it.
Cardio
Walking or running on a treadmill is low impact if you don’t push yourself too hard, and as long as your mobility is at least decent, this is a way to start your fitness journey that is simple and requires no specialized skills. If you are at all unsure about how to use the different settings on the treadmill, then you can ask one of the health club or gym employees. Don’t be embarrassed. Everyone has to start somewhere, and they will be glad to assist you.
Strength Training
Strength training is excellent to incorporate into your fitness routine. If you build more muscle, then you will boost your metabolism, and it will be easier for you to maintain a healthy body weight. Trying the free weights or the weight machines might be intimidating as you’re starting out, but you can still do crunches, planks, lunges, squats, and push-ups without them. If you don’t know how to do some of those, watch videos online or speak to a gym employee. They will surely be glad to demonstrate for you.
Once you have started your new fitness endeavor at a Brentwood gym, you might find it challenging, but it should be rewarding as well. You will gradually begin to build up some strength and endurance, and you will probably sleep better too.
